Doctrinal Statement
We believe …
1. Christians are those people who have “established a personal relationship with God [the Father]” because of having known Jesus [HIS Son]. Jesus has given us an “understanding of God” [and has brought us back to God]. 1 John 5:20
2. Real Christians:
a. Know God because they know Jesus. John 7:17; 1 John 5:20
b. Understand that God is a friend. Exodus 33:11; James 2:23; Proverbs 18:24
c. Talk, dialogue and reason directly with God. Isaiah 1:18
d. Love God with all their hearts, souls, minds & strength. Mark 12:30
e. Love God and obey God’s commandments. 1 John 5:3; John 14:15
f. Serve and worship only God [the Father]. Matthew 4:10
g. Worship God [the Father] in spirit and in truth. John 4:23
h. Pray to the Father [God] in heaven. Luke 11:2
i. No longer, ask of Jesus, because Jesus told them to ask of the Father. John 16:23
j. Ask of the Father [God] in Jesus’ name. “Go direct to God!” John 16:23 Living
k. Understand there is only One God, who is neither a trinity nor Jesus. Mark 12:32
i. “Yet for us there is one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we for Him, and one Lord Jesus Christ, through whom are all things and through whom we live.” 1 Corinthian 8:6
l. Believe that Jesus is the Christ [Son of God in the flesh]. 1 John 5:1
m. Resist sin and are not habitual sinners. 1 John 5:18
n. Practice righteousness. 1 John 2:29
o. Are slaves to righteousness. Romans 6:16-18
p. Purify themselves because Christ was pure. 1 John 3:3
q. Have Jesus Christ as an advocate before God in the event they fail to live up to God’s commandments. 1 John 2:1 There are sins that are “unintentional against the commandments of God.” Leviticus 4:2 There are also “sins that are unknown.” Leviticus 5:17
r. Walk like Jesus walked. I.E. Christians emulate Jesus’ character. 1 John 2:6
s. Walk a narrow walk [Matthew 7:13-14]. Walk in the spirit [Romans 8:1].
t. Are doers of the word and not hearers only, deceiving themselves. James 1:22
u. Understand the kingdom of God is inside them. Luke 17:20-21 Note: As servants of a living God, Christians manifest God’s kingdom into the world by their obedience to God’s commandments and the actions they take based upon the word, their faith and God’s Spirit’s direction.
v. Are filled with the Holy Spirit, which is the Spirit of Truth. John 16:13
